Infiniti is an entry level luxury car manufacturer managed by Japanese automaker, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. The company was officially launched in November 8th of 1989 in North America, and since then has spread to 15 countries with more than 230 dealers. All of the Infiniti sedans, crossovers and coupes are basically built on the Nissan FM platform. The engine center is located behind the front wheels and this allows for a balancing of weight and improves acceleration, handling, and braking. Most importantly this arrangement reduces the polar inertia. The sole exception to this is the QX56 SUV which is based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform. Infiniti names its models with a single letter for sedans and coupes, and two letters for its SUV models. The letters are followed by a number which indicates the engine capacity, for instance QX56 is an SUV which has an engine capacity of 5.6L. An ‘x' following the engine displacement will indicate that the sedan is an all wheel drive model and‘s' signifies a sport package model.

Infinite made its mark in the luxury market with the Q45 which proved to be immensely popular. The Infiniti brand was launched in the United States in the year 1989. The intention was to create a niche for premium vehicles which otherwise wouldn't have fit into Japan's mainstream image. In the beginning, sales figures were rather slow, which can mainly be attributed to the poor marketing techniques employed by Infiniti. The initial campaign showcased a brand that was “Zen” influenced by nature. The ads however did not feature the vehicle which was a bad move for a company hoping to make its mark in brutally competitive markets like the US. The company soon realized its mistake and made up for it with aggressive advertising which then caused sales to start picking up. The slick logo featuring a highway infinitely moving towards a distant horizon was an instant hit among auto enthusiasts. The vehicle generated a class leading 278 hp and featured a V8 engine, active suspension, all wheel steering, and a number of luxury options. Infiniti was projected to be competition for the German luxury giants Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. Infiniti had in effect overtaken the Lincoln and Cadillac by dominating the American luxury arena. Infiniti also launched an Americanized version of the Nissan Leopard called the M30. Unlike the Leopard the M30 was offered with only a single choice of engine which was the Nissan VG30E which generates 162 horsepower.
