The Cadillac DTS is a luxury automobile produced by General Motors. As with all Cadillac’s, the DTS is a high end luxury automobile meant to ensure comfort for both the driver and passengers.
DTS stands for Deville Touring Sedan and takes the place of the Cadillac Deville. There are two versions of this car, the luxury model which has a starting price of $41,990 and the performance model who’s starting price is $50,490.
The Cadillac DTS has the distinction of being the best selling luxury car on the market in the United States. Some of its high end features include power rear window sunshades and heated and massaging rear passenger seats. Though the luxury Cadillac Deville always carried seating for 6 passengers as standard, this was stepped down to five, although the 6 passenger seating capacity is still optional.
The Cadillac DTS is buitl at the General Motors Detroit Hamtramck Assembly factor in Hamtramck, Michigan. At the time it was introduced in 2006, the Cadillac DTS was the largest luxury sedan built by General Motors.
The Cadillac DTS engineis a 32V Northstar V8 engine, and obviously this luxury automobile comes with an automatic transmission. It is loaded with luxury features which include eight airbags, xenon high power headlights, leather seating and power seats all as standard features. For options, one can choose a navigation system, magnetic ride control, a moon roof, chrome wheels, heated/cooled seats and a heated steering wheel is also available as an option. To get a fully loaded Cadillac DTS, one can expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $55,000 to $57,000.
The automobile has had and continues to have prestigous users. The car was actually unveiled for the first time as the presidential limousine at George W. Bush’s second inauguration. When President Barak Obama was sworn into the office on January 20, 2009, he took his first ride as president in a newly appointed Cadillac DTS limousine.
