The Chevy Silverado 3500HD is a heavy duty variant of General Motors light truck series. First offered in 1999, the 3500 is the workhorse of the heavyduty lineup and is popular vehicle for farmwork. A particular favorite for ranchers and farmers alike is the dually series which provides greater stability for hauling heavy cargo.
The Chevy Silverado 3500HD offers the same engine and transmission features as the 2500HD however it is offered with “dually” twin wheels at the rear and has a stronger suspension and axle. The HD models are primarily used for towing and high-weight cargo.
The Silverado 3500 is offered with the Duramax V8 with 360 hp (268 kW) at 3000 rpm and 650 lbÂ·ft (881 NÂ·m) of torque at 1600 rpm. Also available is the Vortec 8100 V8 with 340 hp (254 kW) at 4200 rpm and 455 lbÂ·ft (617 NÂ·m) of torque at 3200 rpm.
The 3500 can tow up to 16,700 lb and haul 5,511 lb of cargo.
