The Chevy Corsica was built from 1987 to 1996 along side the Chevy Beretta and both were the second best selling cars in 1988. The Corsica was offered in two styles and four trim packages , and 5 door hatchback was offered briefly from 1989 to 1991.
The initial models had a 2.8 L (173 in³) engines with throttle body injection which was upgraded to fuel injection on the I4 and MPFI on the V6 models in 1996.
Produced as fleet vehicles initially, rental agencies and large companies were the first customers, however popular demand from the public caused Chevrolet to push this into full scale production ahead of schedule.
In 1994, Corsica engines were upgraded and the 3.1 liter V6 with the OBD-I was replaced with the updated Gen III “3100-series” engine (Option code L82) and an updated OBD system.
