A Year in Review

2012 is behind us and 2013 looms before us. And the pressing question on everyone’s mind is, of course, “What cars sold best last year?”

Okay, maybe not pressing on everyone’s mind, but we’re going to answer that question for you regardless.  Through the week, then, we’ll tell you which cars the most people decided were worth their money last year. The numbers come from Cars.com’s blog on the top 10 best-selling cars for 2012.

10.  Ford Escape

Coming in 10th of these 10 is the Ford Escape, MSRP $22,470.  A 4-door SUV with a 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine, the Ford Escape experienced a drop in popularity from its #5 position last year, but not enough to knock it off the top 10 list.  It gets 22 mpg, or 31 on the highway, and comes with lots of options,  those do tend to drive the price up.

9. Honda CR-V

With an MSRP of $22,795, this compact crossover sedan enjoyed a nearly 30% boost in popularity last year, bumping it up to the #9 spot on the popularity chart.  This may be due to its high ranking in crash tests.  The CR-V also has a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, and comparable gas mileage to the Escape, and a wide range of customizable options.

Check back tomorrow for numbers 7 & 8!
