The First Taurus offered a 2.5 Liter four cylinder engine and it was dubbed the Taurus MT5. Many remember this particular car from its appearance in the movie Robocop. From 2000 through 2003, the car was known as the Taurus SES Sedan . In keeping with Ford's decision to change all of the names of it vehicles to word's beginning with the letter F, the name of the Taurus was changed to the Ford Five Hundred. This proved to be a disastrous move as the car lost all brand recognition with consumers. In 2008, the name was brought back and is was marketed as the Ford Taurus SEL.
